Okay, I really hate reading posts that start with, “I’m sorry I haven’t posted blah blah blah life stress whatever” so I won’t do that. But I did wanna thank y’all who expressed concern with my uncharacteristic silence and who commented up the funny stuff and therefore kept the blog chugging along. And as I tell everyone, I promise to be good. Really. No more peanut butter hangovers and blog desolation.
Now, some tidbits:
First, the link Dawn posted on the sports bra breakdown is completely insane. I posted it here too, and you must check it out. Really. Figure-8 indeed. Thanks Dawn!
And I know there’s been some discussion on the professional rep of boob bouncing researchers, but I have to interject, did anyone else wonder if these folks work for or are funded by a sports bra company? Not intending to cast aspersions–perhaps these folks work for a big program, “Boob Research International” housed in a two-domed building. But anyway, I have done none of my own research, so I actually have no idea on this one, but I just wanted mention it because sometimes the studies you see are really industry press releases dressed up and sent out to wire services and news outlets. And other studies get significant funding from companies with vested interests, like food lobbies who pay for studies on the benefits of a single food. That doesn’t mean that the researchers aren’t sincere or that the results aren’t valid, but it does mean that sometimes we might not get information that would be more helpful to us. And a few studies are straight up quack jobs. Just sayin’.
But enough on corporate America–let’s talk cake. Cake is always good. Nothing evil about cake. Cake loves me. There’s cake here, made by a badass. Two moms. Could I work cake into my new “less sugar, less peanut butter, less overeatin’” plan? Betcha I could.
And you know what? You might as well eat cake, because there’s this study on how supposedly “healthy” restaurant foods sometimes have more calories. You know, there’s just lots of stuff out now about how people can’t estimate portions, or calories, or anything, and how we chow down on stuff in excess because we think it’s all fine. I say, eat crap you know is bad and you won’t have this problem. Ahem. Or something. This is what makes me such a health guru.
We’ll have posts from our lovely contributors soon, and I’m excited, so come back and it won’t be so barren and cold here.

o.k., I have to order a cake and am not sure what flavor to get so I will ask the experts: I can order anything my heart desires. What are your favorites that will be a crowd pleaser? Bonus for chocolate. And no raspberry and chocolate together.

Shari, all time favorite cake in my circle:
“Charlie Ross” from the Bear Claw Bakery in old Pinole. It starts with chocolate cake (made from scratch), then fresh whipped cream in the middle and top and a thick layer of Godiva chocolate melted on top, refrigerated until it hardens on the top and waiting for you to take home. Delectable…..I have become the cake provider for all parties that include a b-day or celebration. Bear Claw is my ol’ haunt.
